I am a coffee-powered, creative, and nerdy, gadget-geek who has recently decided to go back to school and become a computer programmer/software developer. I love God, photography, reading, and the web. Once in a while, I pick up my dusty guitar and play until my fingers hurt. In outdoorsy moments, you can find me camping, hiking, or fishing. In a past life, I obtained a BA in Music Composition, but I didn’t use that degree much. Then, I was the directing cinematographer of The Video Scribe, but that company is in a bit of hibernation for now while I learn to program, and that C# is more than just a difficult key to play in.
In this blog, you will find thoughts about any of my favorite things, and maybe some snapshots too – at no extra charge. So if you wanted to know the juicy (albeit nerdy) details of Tracy’s life, you’ve hit the pay dirt.
"Camping" With Nancy
I had a camping trip planned with my friends from church, Dawn and her three daughters. We were to go on Monday evening and stay out all Tuesday. The previous weekend had been absolutely GORGEOUS! Monday brought rain, however, and not just a little bit, mind you. Some places in Kirksville reported three inches, others barely one inch. In any case, it was stormy and not conducive to outdoor activities.
Our plan changed to indoor camping. We revamped our plan to include a night with a Nancy Drew game on the laptop, but no other lights – so as to feel more like an adventure. We were able to cook our dinner out on the grill, so we had steak, corn and potatoes to fuel our all-night adventure.
In the morning, I fixed my standard “skillet scramble,” only I used my new Dutch oven. I put in on the grill, and proceeded as normal. It turned out great, and everyone ate their fill of diced potatoes, peppers, onions, bacon, eggs, and sausage.
In the end, I was actually relieved I would not have to take down the tent and pack everything back into the RAV before heading home to unpack it all again, and clean up. We decided this indoor camping was actually not too bad. Also, there were a lot fewer bugs.
