Business License Paperwork

September 5, 2007

I filled out and handed in paperwork along with the appropriate fees for obtaining my business license today. The lady at City Hall said it should be ready by the first of next week. She said with a home business, they may or may not inspect anything. They might drive by to see how much parking I have; I have two driveways, so that should not be a problem. I don’t plan on conducting meetings or doing business in my home anyway. My home office is simply where I do my work.

Registration Of Fictitious Name

August 29, 2007

I registered the name of my business, The Video Scribe, with the Secretary of State last evening. I am registered as a “sole proprietorship”. I still need to go to City Hall for a business license. I am planning to go next week when I have some days off.

There are many steps involved in starting a new business. Mine is one of the easier ones to start because it is of the “sole proprietor” variety. Beyond that, there is still the constant research about video cameras, microphones, pricing, websites and event videography in general.

I am going to shoot a (two-camera) wedding this Saturday. It was short notice and the bride and groom don’t want anyone on the stage - just an unmanned camera. I will be at the back of the church with the other camera. This should be interesting. I don’t know if they want any editing or not.

I was also asked to do a slide show for a dear couple’s 25th wedding anniversary. I am happy about this one and can’t wait to get started. I hope business will always be this… well, busy!

Open For Business

August 24, 2007

I can’t wait any longer. I am officially debuting my new website, www.thevideoscribe.com. This is the online home of my freelance video production business, The Video Scribe.

I am sure the site will receive many updates and changes from what it is now, but I want to go ahead and get the word out, “I am open for business.”

The Story Board page is where I will put samples of my work. Right now, there are only two samples, but more are on the way.

I still want to purchase a semi-pro camera, but haven’t even come close to saving the $3,500.00 I will need for the Canon I want.

Please visit thevideoscribe.com and tell your friends and family about it.
