I’m new to still life photography. Sort of. I’ve been taking photos of “things, not people” since I got into photography. But now, still life photography is a sort of assignment, designed to boost my creativity. I suddenly feel compelled to get the lighting, arrangement, backdrop, mood, and every little thing just right. The arranging is the hardest, followed by the lighting, which is directly tied to mood. I have essentially no backdrops to work with but I can work around that. Props will require creative problem solving; for now I’m using favorite things, by color. It’s going to be a long journey.
